Implant-retained dentures are a cost-effective way of replacing many missing teeth.
Your denture is retained by Implants and so is more secure and stable and yet removable at will so cleanability is easy.
This treatment option is ideal for those for whom a fixed Implant bridge is either not suitable or outside their budget and who wish to have something more secure than a denture resting on the gum.
Not only do Implant retained dentures do away with the need for denture adhesives and pastes, but they also improve the aesthetics of the face and minimise wrinkles around the lips by preserving the remaining bone in your jaws as support.
A lower denture may only need two conventional implants to transform your ability to chew, and smile with confidence.
What you can expect from treatment with Implant Retained Dentures?
We will conduct an initial examination and necessary scans to ensure you have sufficient bone present for this procedure. Moving forwards, we can take impressions so your custom dentures can be created to suit your smile and wider facial features. We will surgically place the implants into your jawbone at strategic locations and leave them to fuse for a period of 3-4 months. We will then invite you back for an appointment to have your dentures fitted and attached to those implants.
The benefits of treatment with Implant Retained Dentures:
- You will be able to enjoy a wider range of foods, which may have posed a challenge when you had only removable dentures.
- Feel confident about your smile and smiling around others.
- The dentures are supported by implants, which means they are more securely attached than those just resting on the gum giving you added security that they will not embarrass you by dropping or falling out.
- The dentures are bespoke and made to suit the shape of your face and level of lip and cheek support.
- Your ability to taste food and speech will improve, as implant retained dentures often need less acrylic covering the palate making them more comfortable in the process.
- As your dentures are implant-supported, your jawbone is more protected from resorption, unlike in the case of traditional dentures.
